SVDP Invitation to Serve-November 2011

The SVDP at Prince of Peace is hoping to invite more parishioners of Prince of Peace to become involved in their special ministry to the needy and suffering in our area. Jerry Lamecker spoke at all the Masses this weekend to invite parishioners to come to a special meeting on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 7pm in the American Saints Room in the school. We want people who have the Vincentian spirit in their heart and feel an attraction to serve the needy to attend and find out more about the SVDP.

What is the SVDP? The SVDP is a worldwide charitable network founded by a 20 year old college student, Frederic Ozanam, in 1833 in Paris, France.  This first group of young students wanted to live out their gospel faith in imitation of Jesus, by personally serving those in need in the spirit of the great patron of charity, St. Vincent de Paul, who is our model. If you are interested in learning more about our SVDP diocesan wide ministry, go to our diocesan web page at www.svdpcle.org or to the links in our Diocesan SVDP web page for the National, International, and other Vincentian Family links.
