Parish Question for the Week Re-read the gospel passage for the Feast of the Epiphany: Matthew 2:1-12 in which Magi from the east come to pay homage to the newborn king of the Jews; Herod anxiously tries to find a way to get rid of him. Take a moment to reflect on how God is speaking to you in the above gospel passage, attracting the attention of your heart. Then consider the following question for reflection during the week before our next celebration of the Eucharist together. Ask yourself "so what?" What difference does this gospel passage make in my life and that of the faith community at Prince of Peace? Meditate on this. Decide to change one thing before our next weekend Eucharist together. Parish Question of the Week: Just as the world was watching the birth of Jesus Christ two thousand years ago and just as the political world watches our transfer of power, so do people around us watch us. For we, too, are manifestations of God's incarnation in the world. Like it or not, nonbelievers judge Catholicism and Christianity by the behavior of its members. Today's feast is a good reminder to us as we celebrate our faith in Jesus that we now show his face to all we meet. It's not always easy, and we don't always do it perfectly, but it is our destiny. Think about what this means in your life. Bring this effort to our next Sunday Eucharist together as a parish community. (Bringing Home the Word, St. Anthony Messenger Press) |
