There are many community services offered by non-profit religious, voluntary, and government agencies in Summit County. They offer hundreds of different programs such as counseling, emergency assistance, health services, employment training, help to the elderly, various benefits, self-help groups, etc. How do you find the right program if you or someone you know has a need? The first place to begin is to call Info Line or do a search on their web site:

Finding Government Resources-a Quick Check

1.  For people who are 55 and older, the following web site might be helpful: www.benefitscheckup.org The web site asks a series of confidential questions about income and health, present benefits, etc. which takes about 15 minutes.  The end product is a printable report providing a list of programs for which the person may qualify, where to go to apply and what documents are necessary to complete the application.

2.  Government Benefits, in general for all ages: www.govbenefits.gov

3.  The Ohio Benefit Bank (OBB) is a web-based computer program to connect low and moderate-income Ohioans with access to work supports such as tax credits and public benefits. Click on the link below:
