Salary range: Associate Degree $22 per hour; Masters $26 per hour; Doctorate $30 per hour.

Director of Music Ministry
Prince of Peace Parish
Vision of Ministry: The Director of Music Ministry is a professional who holds specialized credentials in music and who has a thorough understanding of Roman Catholic liturgy. This person of faith has a strong personal relationship with Jesus and a desire to serve and disciple those involved in the music ministries of the parish and the members of the parish. He or she is gifted with a vision of how a
local church can develop its potential remembering that “, .. every liturgical celebration … is a sacred action surpassing all others” (Constitution on Sacred Liturgy #7). “Among the many signs and symbols used by the Church to celebrate its faith, music is of preeminent importance … Music should assist the assembled believers to express and share the gift of faith that is within them, and strengthen their interior commitment of faith” (Music in Catholic Worship #23)
Responsibilities and Tasks:
1) The Director of Music Ministry (DM) should be comfortable with both traditional and
contemporary church liturgical music, with providing, sharing and singing liturgical
music suitable for children, teens, adults and seniors. He or she has strong interpersonal
communication skills, the ability to collaborate, and to foster unity among all parish
2) The DM is a natural leader who thrives in team environments, is a self-starter with
strong initiative, innovator, effective organizer and implementer, skilled in conflict
resolution, mission driven and servant hearted.
3) The DM directs the parish music program, selects and plans music for use in parish
liturgies in cooperation with the pastor, the music committee, and the liturgy
4) The DM provides leadership in areas related to liturgical music, e.g. selects and develops
participation aids for the congregation, coordinates musicians, assures copyright
5) The DM coordinates the recruiting and training of musicians/cantors/vocalists and
attempts to involve qualified newcomers.
6) The DM keeps abreast of current developments in liturgy and music, and includes
musicians/cantors/vocalists in professional development.
